A quote from Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder

“I couldn’t find London on a map if they didn’t have the names of the countries. I swear to God. I don’t know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him. That’s the closest thing I know to London. He’s black, so I’m sure he’s not from London. I’m sure that’s a coincidental name.”

How many people can say…

… my entire family is on facebook?

My mom recently joined facebook. By doing that, she completed the feat. When I joined facebook a couple years ago, it was a networking site for college students in the US. It was opened to the general public a while ago and since then, there has been an explosion in membership. I actually know of one other family that is on facebook, but if you’d told me I could message my parents on facebook one year ago, I’d have called you crazy…  Funny old world isn’t it?

Hello World!

The first blog I ever saw was my brother’s. At the time, I wondered why he would want to let the whole world know what was going on in his life and also, who would be interested. That was a few years ago. His blog has become a way for me to keep in touch… For the about 7 years now, I have lived in the US and my brother lives just outside of London. Because of the distance, and the time difference, it’s really hard for me to keep up with events in his life but since he started blogging, I’ve had a window into his world. His blog is anonymous, sort of… no real names basically. But I know exactly who he’s talking about most of the time. I didn’t realize how much I relied on his blog until I found myself calling him and asking why he hadn’t posted anything one time.

For a while now, I’ve been thinking about starting my own blog. I’ve been making up excuses for not doing this but about a week ago, I decided it was time and I was finally gonna do it. I’ve actually been waiting over a week, mainly due to technical issues, to get this started. I’ve had the outline of my first few posts in the back of my mind for a couple of days now. But now that I’ve started writing, I can’t remember much of that.

I guess I’ll just use this first post to explain my title. Surulere is a suburb (if u can call it that) of Lagos Nigeria. I was born there and grew up there… over the last couple of years, I’ve moved a couple times. I was in Florida for a while, for university and I now live just north of Seattle Washington. So basically, what my title refers, if you didn’t already figure out, is the start of my life, the present and just like it says, “…everything in between.” I’m probably gonna be blogging about the present mainly, but once in a while, I will dip into the past.

I don’t know how many readers I’m actually gonna get, but I hope that I can keep YOU interested… so that may be you’ll come back. I’ll try to blog as much as I can.

Enjoy!
